Bushfires

At Christmas 2001, bushfires attacked regional New South Wales over a 25 day period. Willoughby-Lane Cove SES assisted in Gosford and Wingecarribbee.

In January 1994, bushfires devestated Sydney and regional New South Wales. Willoughby-Lane Cove SES was active in Gosford and our own area with bushland in Lane Cove being particularly affected. Much property damage could have been avoided if some precautions had been taken.

Part of the SES' role is the support of other services. While we don't fight fires we assist the RFS (Rural Fire Service) by performing road closures, evacuations, transport, welfare and whatever else is needs to be done.
