Wellington Cave Rescue Weekend
Annually Wellington SES (near Dubbo NSW) hold a cave rescue weekend to allow other NSW units to practice rescue in confined spaces. Our unit has sent a contingent several times.
NavShield
On the first weekend in July the NSW Emergency Services Wilderness Navigation Shield Rogain is held within a couple of hours of Sydney.
Willoughby - Lane Cove unit usually forwards at least one team into this event.
NavRescue
Each year Wollongong City Unit of the State Emergency Service run the NavRescue event. NavRescue offers emergency services and outdoor organisations a one-day bush navigation and initiative course. The event seeks to stimulate and test teamwork, initiative and basic rescue-oriented skills in an atmosphere of friendly competition. This event, is usually held in the Illawarra area in September.
Senior Level Abseiling
Some members have attended abseiling courses put on by the Australian School of Mountaineering.
